26 January 2008

I’ve been asked to write the latest news column as the band members are drunk 95% of the time.

First off is the new album. There’s been a slight delay in getting ‘I Gotta Gun’ out, but it’ll definitely be in the shops by Valentines day. Having listened to it many times over the last month or so, I can honestly say it’ll be worth the wait. Every track is different, and to the uninitiated you’d think it was made up of twelve different bands! Believe me, this album is as diverse as it gets.

Secondly I’d like to thank all the DJs, both here and in Europe for spinning both sides of the new 45, and making them both into instant club classics. It normally takes yonks for a new release to get recognition, so it was a great surprise to hear how well both tracks have been doing in such a short space of time. Special mention must be made of Steve ‘Stack-O-Wax, who’s been playing them constantly on his Wednesday night show on ‘Forest FM’. (This show goes out between 8 and 10pm, and if your not local, then tune in on the internet at www.forestfm.co.uk )

Thirdly is the band themselves. I’ve been on the Rock N Roll circuit for over 30+ years now (More like 60), and Hi-Voltage are the best I’ve seen. There’s no grey area here, and I mean it. How they’ve never hit the big time still amazes me, which brings me to the fourth point. Once the new album is out, we’re going to conduct an aggressive assault on radio stations in the UK, flooding them with promos, letters and emails. Through the power of this site and others like it, including myspace.

I’ll publish all the email addresses of producers and DJs of national and independent radio stations, for a mass onslaught of requests. It’s not hard and it can be done. This is how anyone gets radio play. There’s no magic formula, and Hi-Voltage have at least got a top product to sell, unlike the drivel that get airtime at the moment. If I didn’t believe in them or the album, then I wouldn’t waste my time.

Finally, I’d like to thank everyone that attends a Hi-Voltage gig, which is the nearest you’ll get to a religious experience in this life. The band exists on your support, and gets just as bigger kick watching you, as you get watching them. Keep the faith, and we’ll grind the bastards down together.

Steve Willis – President, Chief Executive, Manager, Tea Boy, Skivvy, Gopher and all round dogs body of Rollin’ Records.

Howdy folks,
First of all I would like to apologise on behalf of
Hi-Voltage and myself ,for the lack of info recently,...no excuses really...we have all been very busy collectively and individually but we need to keep you all informed of what's going on with the band. If it wasn't for you cats 'n'  kittens there would be no Hi- Voltage ... no audience no band.. Anyway that's the  apology out the way. Well what has been going on? you ask.

LOTS!!! There you go, that's your question answered bye now!.lol

As most of you know, Lynn and Keith had some bad luck, when their garage went up in flames , with his beloved Cadillac, other valuables and our complete p.a. system, which were all inside the garage.
Well, both Lynn and Keith they have bounced back big style!!! and Keith has been very busy re-building the garage by himself .

Matt got married to his lovely Sarah and they had a fantastic wedding in Edinburgh , which of course all the band attended.
Talking of weddings. Paul is getting married in November....yes Paul is getting MARRIED!!!!... to the lovely Charlotte., and of course we'll all be there for that one as well. Ian went for an audition for a panto, which is coming to Edinburgh.
Unfortunately he didn't get the part he was too short to play the lead part (the panto was "TOM THUMB") he was a bit down for a while, but he's okay now..
Me ...well I've been busy watching telly.

The new album will be out soon ....especially as Steve Willis, has promised to boot each and every one of  our arses !!!!!for taking soooo long!!. (nearly a bloody year) Sorry Steve and Kim but it's on its way I promise!!!!
The album will be out on ROLLIN' RECORDS and will be mostly self penned songs . We hope you enjoy listening to them as much as we have
enjoyed writing and recording them.
That's all for now folks!!
 Until the next  time .

 Cheers Kenny.-----

"For those of you out there who don’t play in a band, you’re probably thinking that when Hi-Voltage are not playing gigs we're kicking their feet up and having a relaxing time.

Well nothing could be further from the truth. Although we’ve not played as many gigs for the past few months as we usually do, we’ve been very busy indeed… working on our new album.

From the feedback we’ve received on the last album, ‘Rockin dance floor hits’ on the Rollin Record label,  many of you cats out there reckon it’s the best recording that we’ve put out so far. With the bar raised that high we’ve pulled out all the stops for our next release.

What we set out to do was write as many original songs as we could. We aimed for more than half of the songs to be original… well let me tell you, the genie is out of the bottle, we got all fired up and started coming up with all kinds of crazy new ideas for songs.

We got western swing, we got raunchy blues, we got Gene Vincent, we got 60’s Elvis… and of course, we got good old rockabilly. By the end of our three months of putting pen to paper and banging our heads together, we ended up with 10 original songs.

Now we’re busy following this up with booking time in the studio and capturing this all on tape. Not easy when one of the two studios that we use is being half demolished and rebuilt.

We’ll keep you posted as to when the final release is planned and we hope that you’ll like the songs.

After that it’s back to work with a top slot at the Americana and the Hot Rod Hayride to get us back on stage and in the spotlight.

- Paul "

30 October 2006

Well folks as you know  we were back on the road at the weekend, down in Grantham and what a great  gig we had.

. It was a long drive but it was worth it. They have a good little rockin club down there by 7.30 the place was packed the DJ played a great set the joint was jumpin.

We went on about 9 for the  first set of 2, its been a while since we done two sets but it sure was fun.

The first set was over after 45 min and the first thing we done was head for the bar for a nice cold beer or two.

After a few beers we went back to the dressing room to change shirts as they were a bit sweaty as we were getting changed in walks Chris and Bev Jackson and behind them was Travis LeDoyt on a night off from his tour in the UK.

We didn't have much time to chat as we were due back on stage. Its now 10.30 and we are ready for the second set, halfway through the set we decide to get Travis up for a few songs and boy did he rock the joint girls screaming "Travis we love you".

He sang about 3 songs and boy can he sing it was good fun we all had a ball and I think he did to.

Hi Voltage would like to thank you all for a great night and a big thanks to Steve for putting the band on in his club and for letting us stay at his house cheers Steve.

See you all soon Vince

22 October 2006

Well howdy folks how you all doing .

Just got back from Hemsby last week had a good time as always it was not to bad on the new camp £1.50 for a Bud is not to bad but the food was not that good apart from that me and Tin Hips had a ball.

Its good to catch up with everybody like our pals from the south Gary and Sue. Thats if Gary is still speaking to us after Tin Hips took the piss out of his ears. (I'm still not talking so called mate........)

It was nice to see Chris and Bev Jackson.  Well as you all know  Hi-Voltage have been on a little break catching up with things at home took a bit of time but its all done now, thank god for that .

Now we can get back on the road and do what we like doing best and that's rock n roll. Our next gig is next Saturday in Grantham, hope to see you there. Check the gig guide.

We also have all the dates confirmed for next years Theatre gigs rock n roll - the real story. There is ten in all. This will be something different for us but we are all looking forward to it, we will be going under a different name for the shows and that is V8 Vince and the Pontiacs. As I said it will be good fun.

I will let you know more soon .

That's all for now take care Vince.

5 September 2006

Well hi folks how you all doing.

Here are one or two things just to let you know that we are still alive. Hi- Voltage have been on a little break just catching up with things at home. When you are on the road traveling all over the place you don't get much time to do things you want to do like the Wife has some decorating for me to do cant wait to start that (not).

I myself have been doing up my 1960 Oldsmobile it was a bit off a heap when I got it, so that takes a bit of time she has just had a bare metal respray, inside is all done, new carpets new panels seats have been done, she is looking good if I must say so myself the Wife thinks I spend more time on the car than I do her. not true.

Mr. Morris has just moved into a new house so he has been busy doing it up from top to bottom all retro style its sure looking good. He has also been busy with his tattoos at the weekend he works in Bills Tattoo shop in Edinburgh if he is not drawing tattoos he is getting them himself, the next time you see him ask to see his pin up girl he loves to show that one of, take it from me he wont mind and if he doe's tell him Vince said it was ok.

Whats Paul been up to not a lot only joking. Paul is in the middle doing some work in his house sanding floors getting rid of some of the crap he has lying about the house, Never thought I would see the day just shows what a good girl can do for you, he also has been doing some work on his 1950 Chevy Styleline its up for sale if there's anybody out there looking for cool car give him a call on (07811523273) and make a deal .

The new man in the band - Bass man Mr. Matt Curtis is also a bit of an artist he is learning the art of tattooing he also does oil paintings check out his web site -  www.mattcurtisgallery.com

There are some really nice paintings on there if you like your war planes then he is the man to paint them.

Now what about the man on the horn, I hear you say what's he been up to well, Kenny works in a music shop all day long. He has not got much time for anything else apart from eating and football just joking ha ha -  no he keeps Hi Voltage on their toe's when it comes to backing vocals and he is a good sound man he also plays in other bands so that takes up most of his time .

Hi-Voltage have been asked to do a rock n roll show in the theatres, 12 in all its a story about rock n roll in the beginning. We are all looking forward to doing this it is something different for us all, we will let you no more about it when the time comes.

We are also learning some new songs for the next CD,  it will have all our own songs on it, this takes a bit of time we hope to have it out for spring time next year on Rollin Records thanks to Steve Willis. (Main man in South London).

So that's about it now, you no what we have been up to see you all soon.

PS - thanks to everybody that support Hi Voltage wheather its outside or inside. you all take care now you here.

Cheers Vince
